Returning to Vancouver (on the invitation of François Houle) to build upon last year’s amazing festival collaboration, French pianist Delbecq joins his cohorts this June to record their first album with this stellar lineup. Delbecq’s mastery of extended technique and melodic free improv is “at once otherworldly and organic” (Georgia Straight), while Vancouver’s Francois Houle is “a spectacularly versatile clarinetist who appears to have no limitations stylistically or sonically” (LA Times). Regular co-conspirators in numerous projects, guitarist Gordon Grdina and drummer Kenton Loewen are boldly adventurous, cutting edge improvisers.
